Grandparents this blog post is here to show you what the grandkids have been learning in school, doing in life, and overall as a log for our family. If you would be interested in reviewing any of these topics with the children I'm sure they would be excited as always to have something to chat with you about.

What are we doing?

I have been hearing about a program for years. Things we are trying out this summer will vary from week to week! Classical Conversations is one that teaches in a visual-auditory style! I am making my own summer plan of the program. I would love for any feedback or help you could offer for our summer learning. In the next weeks, I will be posting and e-mailing you a list of subjects we plan to study per week. After two-day two day researching, I have found some amazing websites. 

The children were interested in Cycle 1 of the program which relates to Ancient times. Though we have studied that for years. Through a program called The Story of the World. The Story Of The World will be used in correlation with our new program this year. You will see in our daily program I will be putting that Cycle after lunch as more of an elective style. The children are extremely interested in Ancient Studies of foreign lands. This is a never-ending subject for our family. 

While I was interested in Cycle 3 to correlate with what children of there age generally learn in school during this stage of life. Cycle 3 goes over America. So we are doing both cycles this summer. We will be starting to study the 1800's - 1900's primarily in August. At that time we will start the Little House on the Prairie Series. We own a curriculum that goes along with the series. I'll explain later in greater detail about that program.

We started a new program which works on memorizing facts learned through singing, silly videos,  projects, games, reading stories related to the topics, and root memorizing. The following was the main topics.
