What Careers are Available in the Drone Industry?

Click here for the online class

Session Date  04/08/2020 8:30 AM   Central Time
    Duration  00:40
    Access Code: wptpx-xt

Let's do some research about the Drone Industry:           What extra information did you find out?

ArtyScout notes: Flight aviation UAV operations are in need of pilots for the military and commercial drowning. In Dallas Texas, a new type of drone car is in the process of being created.

DinoScout notes: If you want to fly your UAV out of your sight you need special permission from the FAA. It is better to constantly run a drone at least 1 per week than let it sit for a month or more unused due to the design of the batteries.

    Description

I am a Professional Drone Pilot. My background includes having flown over 2000 Missions, flying missions on everything from Search and Recovery, Infrastructure Inspections, Disaster Recovery, Turf Management, Aerial Photography, and Television Shows. During this session, I’ll give students a brief overview of what it is like to work with drones. What careers are available in the Drone Industry, how they can become a Professional Drone Pilot and then open it up to their questions so that most of the time will be a Q&A.

    Key Questions

    • What does a Professional Drone Pilot do?
    • What education and skills are required for this type of job?
    • What is a typical salary range for this profession?
    • What type of personality or work style is helpful for this job?
    • What questions do you have for me?

    Expected Outcomes

I want students to learn how to become a Professional Drone Pilot, what one does, and how learning to be one can lead them into a career in manned and unmanned aviation to become an Aviation Pilot, Engineer or help in developing this exciting technology.

Virtual Tour (360 photo) Tomb of Menna
The tomb of Menna (TT69) is located in the necropolis of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna (see the location plans below), in the part known as the "upper enclosure". TT69 is one of a group of tombs which date to the end of the reign of Thutmoses IV and the beginning of the reign of Amenhetep III
     — with Dègà Egypt.

Let's do some research about the Tomb of Menna:           What did you find out?

ArtyScout notes: We learned today about the tomb of Menna, many of the images have been vandalized.  This tomb is open to the public yet guarded by two men.

DinoScout notes:  The tomb is 115 meters long. The ancient Egyptians used mirrors to reflect light into dark corridors

Math in Your Kitchen: Fun with Food Fractions

    https://nepris.com/sessions/session/detail/71524

    Access Code: wqurt-xw

Session Date  04/07/2020 10:00 AM   Central Time

    Duration  00:40

    Description

During my presentation, I will introduce students and their parents/caregivers to math activities/lessons they can do to explore the concept of fractions. We will use items from my kitchen to measure packages of foods to develop students' understanding of estimation, fractions and useful arithmetic. An added bonus is that packaging introduces nutrition and names of ingredients!

Once you open boxes, obvious real questions emerge like: “What is half of an animal cracker?” What should I do with the crumbs or partial pieces in a box? And more! We will explore these and more questions, and families will have the opportunity to try some of these activities out together during the session. Visuals, props, and more will be used to engage even young learners.

    Key Questions

    • What fractions can you find in your kitchen?
    • What can we learn about mathematical concepts within our own homes?
    • What are some good strategies for estimating and measuring?
    • What can we learn from food's packaging?

    Expected Outcomes

Students and their caregivers will learn that math is all around them, and that the kitchen is a great place to learn about fractions in particular! A general exploration of estimation and measurement and even food's packaging will help further students' mathematical knowledge.

    Key Questions

    • What is there to know about 3d printing ?
    • How does 3d printing work?
    • What are some 3D printing news stories?

    Expected Outcomes

Students will take away a basic understanding of 3d printing. Some basic concepts of cad design will help them understand how 3d printing gets used in the real world.
